Wearing the orthosis
Your Veterinarian will show you how to put your dog’s orthosis on. Make sure that it is fitting correctly and that you fasten the straps firmly on so that the Orthosis is secure.
Your Veterinarian will tell you how long the orthosis should be worn for and provide you with a wearing regime. Make sure you follow the regime at all times as continuity of wear is critical to the effectiveness of the treatment.
It can take time for your dog to get used to wearing their orthosis.Whilst your veterinarian will ensure that it is as safe and comfortable as possible to wear, it may slightly alter the way they move. This is completely normal, however we do advise you gradually build up the length of time their orthosis is worn to help them become accustomed to it, and to ensure it will not cause ill effects such as skin irritation or damage.
Caring for your dogs skin and hair
Every Ortholese Animal orthosis has extra thick, soft lining inside to ensure your dog’s complete comfort. However, it is important that you regularly check their skin for any signs of soreness, especially in the first few days. If your dog experiences any pain, discomfort, blistering or severe redness of the skin please report to your Veterinarian.
Orthosis Maintenance
To clean your orthosis simply wipe over with a damp cloth and leave to dry. Do not use any harsh chemicals or cleaning products.
Please do not try to adjust the orthosis yourself. If you feel that it is not fitting correctly, then please contact your Veterinarian.
